I don't find it easy to orgasm as my clit seems to get hypersensitive. What can I do?

It may be an idea to keep taking yourself to the brink and then deliberately stopping before you climax - the difference being that you’re keeping control and stopping before you want to, rather than having to stop because it gets too sensitive to continue.

Question for JulieI don't find it easy to orgasm as my clit seems to get hypersensitive.  I can reach a high state of arousal but can't continue as it just becomes too aroused. I've tried with my partner, on my own and with a toy. Is there any way I can orgasm and lessen the sensitivity of my clit?

Julie Answers...The clitoris has the highest concentration of nerve endings on the female body (approximately 8,000 – which incidentally is twice as many as the penis!) This is why it’s protected by the clitoral hood. Some hoods need retracting to expose the clitoris, whereas others are smaller, causing a permanently exposed and therefore more sensitive clitoris, but both are normal.

Always make sure that your clitoris and vulva are well lubricated. Any friction will only heighten your sensitivity. When you’re on your own, try massaging around your clitoris – but don’t touch it directly. See how this feels, and keep reapplying lube if you need to. It may be an idea to keep taking yourself to the brink and then deliberately stopping before you climax - the difference being that you’re keeping control and stopping before you want to, rather than having to stop because it gets too sensitive to continue. This should empower rather than frustrate you, and then, hopefully, you can tease yourself over the edge.

Alternatively, try using a vibrator but keeping your panties on. You’ll still get a good sensation through the material, but you won’t have the intensity of direct stimulation - unless or until you want it.
