Anal DoucheMany people use anal douches and enema kits for hygiene purposes, whilst many others enjoy the unique feeling it creates when in use. The basic idea is to deposit water into the rectal passage, removing any compacted faeces, so that you're clean and ready to go before inserting your favourite sex toys or having anal sex.

The difference between a douche and an enema is the amount of water they hold and how far they clean. A douche has a bulb for holding the water and will need between 100ml and 400ml to fill it up. A douche, such as our best-selling Anal Douche (£7.99), will clean only the rectal passage which is all you really need for anal play.

An enema generally has a bag for holding the water and will need between 400ml and 2 litres of water to fill it up! Enema kits are designed to help flush out the intestinal tract as well as the rectal passage and takes a lot longer to do, but ensures a more thorough clean. Enemas are often performed by people on detox diets to help get rid of toxins but use different mixtures of fluids depending on what they are hoping to achieve. Their medical benefits, however, are questionable.

How to Use an Anal Douche

1. Remove the douche from the packaging and give it an initial rinse, just to make sure it's clean.

2. Fill the bulb up with water either by removing the tip and running it directly under the tap or by squeezing the bulb then immersing it in a container of water, allowing the suction effect to draw the water in.

3. Lubricate the end of the douche and the opening of the anus then gently insert the tip. We advise doing this over the toilet as the angle allows for easy insertion and keeps the whole process clean and hygienic.

4. Once inserted, press the bulb of the douche which will result in the water being dispensed into the rectum. It will gently clean you, removing any waste material from the lower part of the passage.

5. Remove the douche gently then use your rectal muscles to push the water out, dispensing of the water in the toilet.

6. It is advised that you repeat this several times until the water that you are ejecting runs clear.

A Few Anal Douching Tips

  • The temperature of the water should be luke warm and tested beforehand to ensure safety.
  • Use your anal douche around 30 minutes before anal play for optimum cleanliness but the results can last for a few hours.
  • Douching can remove the natural lubrication of the anus so it is important to use anal lubricant before attempting any further insertion.
  • You will need to adjust the angle of your body accordingly for the tip of the douche to fit in. If you encounter any pain, stop immediately.

I need to buy another anal douche - I bought the second one you show, with the red bulb, but the rubber is so hard that I cannot squeeze it properly because my hands are arthritic and very weak.; can you advise me of one which has a softer bulb?

    Many thanks
